The Down Syndrome Association of Jacksonville has appointed TJ Ward as executive director.
Most recently Ward led the JAX Chamber's Project Opioid, part of a coalition created to confront the state's opioid overdose crisis. Earlier he was a pastor and high school principal.“TJ’s leadership, passion for serving others and ability to build meaningful relationships make him an outstanding choice to lead our organization," board chairman Nathan Walter said.
Ward succeeds Scott Fletcher, hired in May 2025. "The board decided a different direction was needed and TJ Ward was qualified and available to make the transition with us," Walter said. "We are extremely happy to have TJ leading us into a new era for the organization."
Down syndromeis a genetic
disorder that can cause intellectual disability and developmental delays and medical abnormalities.
"It is an incredible privilege to … serve a community that is built on acceptance, opportunity and unwavering support," Ward said. "We will continue creating opportunities for individuals with developmental differences to thrive."
