For more than two dozen teams in Jacksonville-area high school football, Week 6 means high-stakes district action at the halfway point of the Florida High School Athletic Association regular season.
Among the significant games Friday night will be Bradford's road trip to Madison County, a serious step up in competition for the Tornadoes at Boot Hill; Baker County's state capital visit to Tallahassee Godby, the opener for both in District 2-3A; and Suwannee's game in the Big Bend against Wakulla, as the Bulldogs attempt to keep their undefeated season going.
Here's a closer look at five top Northeast Florida matchups on Friday night.

Creekside (3-2, 1-0) at Sandalwood (4-1, 1-0), District 1-6A, 6:30 p.m.
These aren't the same Saints who lost 29 in a row. Are they
good enough now to threaten Creekside? Sandalwood junior Michael Hills, coming off consecutive five-touchdown games, is clearly among the most explosive players in the Gateway Conference. Trent Porter, Justin Roddy and a solid Creekside secondary will be taking on the challenge.
Fletcher (4-1, 1-0) at Mandarin (3-1, 1-0), District 2-5A, 6:30 p.m.

Friday's winner could have the early inside track on a fearsome six-team district. The Mustangs have to bounce back from the jolt of the Week 5 loss to Raines,although whenever Brysen Wright is on the field, highlights usually aren't far away. Fletcher running back Ja'mez Williams topped 100 yards against First Coast last week. Mandarin topped the Senators 22-13 last October.
Yulee (3-2, 0-0) at White (3-1, 1-0), District 3-4A, 6:30 p.m.
By downing Camden County 48-44 at Chris Gilman Stadium, the Commanders picked up their biggest out-of-town win in a long time. King Boylston, Vedo Jones and Rontrez Loyd all have a real chance to break 1,000 yards rushing by season's end. It's a tough task for Yulee, which has dropped its last two against Baker County and West Nassau after a 3-0 start.
Ponte Vedra (2-3, 1-0) at Bartram Trail (4-1, 0-1), District 2-5A, 7 p.m.
Ponte Vedra won this matchup 48-14 last year, but the Bears have improved. Griffin Szekeres and Riley Ducker led a defensive effort last week to limit Creekside to nine points. The visiting Sharks, meanwhile, aren't far from being 5-0 instead of 2-3. Alexander Winkles accumulated nearly 200 yards as rusher and receiver last week at Fleming Island.
West Nassau (4-0-1) at Fernandina Beach (1-4), 7 p.m.
Traditionally an intense rivalry game in Nassau County. Nobody has slowed down West Nassau's classic Wing-T running offense, now up to 1,808 ground yards with Smo Green and Avery Griffin leading the way. To pull off the upset, Fernandina Beach needs another big game from the versatile Beck Rohe, who played QB last week against Clay.
