Tim Tebow has tried his hand at professional baseball and the NFL, so why not Squad Games?
Tebow will be a special guest Sunday night when trick-shot artists Dude Perfect bring their Squad Games Tour to Jacksonville. At every stop on the tour, Dude Perfect selects a "featured squad" to join in the games. For some stops, they've brought in the Harlem Globetrotters. For Jacksonville, it's Zach King, Insane Shayne, Mark Rober and Tebow.
Tebow, who played high school football at Nease and won a Heisman Trophy and national championship as a quarterback at the University of Florida, probably doesn't need the work. He just signed a multi-year extension with ESPN, and his wife is a former Miss Universe. Still, his last big athletic endeavor in Jacksonville
was when he tried out as a tight end for the Jaguars in 2021, so maybe he's looking for redemption.
What is Dude Perfect?
Dude Perfect is a sports comedy group formed in 2009 by a group of students at Texas A&M. They now have a YouTube channel with 62.5 million followers, a podcast and anapp. Members are Tyler Toney, Cody Jones, Garrett Hilbert, Coby Cotton and Cory Cotton.
Why is Dude Perfect famous?
Dude Perfect first gained fame by posting elaborate trick-shot videos on YouTube. They expanded to stunts and online "battles," which eventually grew popular enough to warrant a television show and a national tour. The group holds several world records, including longest basketball shot and longest barefoot Lego walk.
Is there a religious tie to Dude Perfect?
All Dude Perfect members are practicing Christians and use their platform to spread the Word. "We’re about giving back, spreading joy, and glorifying Jesus Christ," states their website.
Has Dude Perfect performed in Jacksonville before?
Just once, on Sept. 24, 2021, at the arena. They had a Jacksonville show scheduled for May of 2020 that didn't happen because of the COVID shutdown.
How is this year's show different?
Unlike previous tours, the entire floor of the arena will be a "battle zone," allowing more space for the performers.
