Duval Charter wide receiver Kendrick Spann is the new Florida Times-Union Boys Athlete of the Week for Northeast Florida high school sports for the 2026-27 season, covering the week of Aug. 24-29 in the Jacksonville area.
The freshman returned a kickoff for a touchdown and caught five passes for 79 yards, gaining 219 all-purpose yards for Panthers football in a 40-22 victory against Harvest Community.
He placed first in a vote of top Northeast Florida performers that included Kilian Doyle (St. Joseph cross country), Ambrose Kinnare (Tocoi Creek golf), Nik Morrell (Bishop Kenny football), Tavaris Parker (Ribault football) and Jarelle Sims (Sandalwood football).

It's time to
vote for Florida Times-Union's boys High School Athlete of the Week for the week of Aug. 31-Sept. 5.
The Times-Union gathers nominees from scores, stats and nominations e-mailed to the sports desk during the week by coaches across Northeast Florida. Coaches can e-mail these stats and scores to preps@jacksonville.com. Deadline to receive nominations is 7 p.m. Saturdays.
Because of the Labor Day holiday, this week's voting begins Tuesday morning and closes at 10 a.m. Friday, Sept. 11. Votes are restricted to once per device per hour. Vote at jacksonville.com/sports.

Xander Camus, Bartram Trail football
The sophomore completed 18 of 22 passes for 220 yards and all four Bear touchdowns, winning 27-24 against Bishop Kenny.
JJ Etienne, Yulee football
The senior returned an interception for a touchdown and helped force four fumbles as Yulee topped Fernandina Beach 39-19.
Javon Johnson, Paxon football
The senior made 18 tackles and three sacks and also blocked a punt to help the Golden Eagles win 26-25 at Williston.
Sam Lee, Stanton swimming
The junior won the 200 and 500 freestyle as the Blue Devils won a meet against First Coast.
Michael Rattigan, Wolfson golf
The senior was the medalist with a 33 as the Wolfpack defeated Mandarin.
Brantley Rigdon, Bolles cross-country
The junior ran 16:12 at the Florida Horse Park Invitational, helping Bolles to an area-leading third-place team finish.
