The good news for the Jacksonville Jaguars: They've risen up the ranks of team valuations over the past year. The bad news: They're still among the NFL's five least valuable teams.
The Jags came in as the 29th most valuable team according to Sportico's
rankings released Wednesday, Aug. 12. The outlet listed Jacksonville's valuation at $7.91 billion, one of only four teams worth less than $8 billion.The value of sports teams across all leagues continues to skyrocket, as evidenced by the Los Angeles Lakers selling for a record $12.5 billion a year after going for $10 billion just one year earlier. The Jaguars' value rose by 42% since last year, according to Sportico, second behind only the Seattle Seahawks. The reigning Super Bowl champions sold
for $9.6 billion in July, a record for an NFL sale price, though that deal has yet to be approved by the NFL owners.

It's no surprise that the Jags continue to rank so low in team valuations. One of the league's youngest franchises, they're one of four teams to have yet to play in a Super Bowl (though another of them, the AFC South rival Houston Texans, ranks 13th at $9.52 billion). They're also Northeast Florida's only major professional sports team with a passionate but localized fanbase.
Sportico says its numbers combine the enterprise value of each team with the value of team-related businesses and real estate holdings. Owner Shad Khan is among the richest men in America, with Forbes listing his worth at $15 billion. While EverBank Stadium hosts a variety of other events, the biggest being college football's annual Florida-Georgia game and Gator Bowl, neither brings in the same level of revenue that, say, Miami Dolphins ownership gets from events like the College Football Playoff national championship game, the Miami Grand Prix F1 race and the Miami Open tennis tournament.
But the team's value will likely rise even higher once the "Stadium of the Future" renovations are complete in 2028. It would help if the Jags continue their winning ways on the field: Under first-year head coach Liam Coen and with an MVP-caliber season from quarterback Trevor Lawrence, the team went 13-4 last season and expect to compete in the playoffs again in 2026. A full season from potential two-way superstar Travis Hunter could bring new eyes to "DUUUVAL," as well.
The Dallas Cowboys came in first in Sportico's valuations, worth an estimated $15.5 billion, while the Cincinnati Bengals were last at $7.4 billion. The Jaguars finished ahead of one of their divisional rivals, a spot ahead of the Indianapolis Colts ($7.77 billion).
