The Times-Union releases its preseason power rankings for the start of the high school football season in Northeast Florida. These rankings will appear each week. Reigning Florida High School Athletic Association champion Raines opens at No. 1.

1. Raines (14-0, District 3-3A)

This week: Aug. 21 at Oakleaf, 7 p.m.

Outlook: A lot of new faces, but they still begin as the kings: After winning it all in 2025, the champions will have the whole state on notice in 2026.

2. Bolles (13-2, District 3-2A)

This week: Aug. 21 vs. Columbia, 7 p.m.

Outlook: Last year's super sophomores, Asher Ghioto and Xander Edwards, help fuel Bulldogs' quest to return to Miami.

3. Mandarin (11-2, District 2-5A)

This week: Aug. 21 at Hollywood McArthur, 7 p.m.

Outlook: Year three of the Brysen Wright Show is now in session. How high will the Mustangs star soar this year?

4. St. Augustine (11-2, District 4-4A)

This

week: Aug. 21 at Palatka, 7 p.m.

Outlook: There's change at QB, receiver and several more positions, but the same winning tradition at Foots Brumley Stadium.

5. Nease (9-3, District 2-5A)

This week: Aug. 21 at Creekside, 7 p.m.

Outlook: Never, never, never underestimate the defense for the Panthers.

6. Trinity Christian (9-5, District 5-1A)

This week: Aug. 21 at White, 6:30 p.m.

Outlook: A battle-tested Trinity is in the hunt for its best season for five years, and maybe something special in a realigned Class 1A.

7. Bradford (11-2, District 4-2A)

This week: Aug. 21 vs. Ocala West Port, 7 p.m.

Outlook: Tornadoes are aiming for yet another regular season with fewer than 10 points per game allowed.

8. Columbia (9-3, District 3-4A)

This week: Aug. 21 at Bolles, 7 p.m.

Outlook: The Tigers' defensive front could be among the best in Northeast Florida.

9. White (9-3, District 3-4A)

This week: Aug. 21 vs. Trinity Christian, 6:30 p.m.

Outlook: Returning their top passer, rusher and receiver, can the Commanders improve further on last year's 537-point offensive production?

10. Ponte Vedra (11-3, District 2-5A)

This week: Aug. 21 vs. University Christian, 7 p.m.

Outlook: Roster turnover is extensive, but special teams should be super this year. Will Noah Ash boot a field goal from 55, or even more?
