The Philadelphia Eagles are sending two-time Pro Bowl center Cam Jurgens and a 2027 7th-round pick to the Baltimore Ravens in exchange for a 2027 5th-round pick and a 2028 2nd-round pick.
Jurgens had struggled this season and Monday entered the NFL’s concussion protocol after self-reporting symptoms.
This comes on the heels of the surprising retirement announcement of fellow offensive lineman Lane Johnson on Tuesday.
Jurgens played all 61 offensive snaps in the Eagles’ 24-20 loss to the Rams on Sunday afternoon. He even spoke to reporters in the locker room after the game.
Jurgens had moved from center to left guard to replace Landon Dickerson with Drew Kendall, in his second season, playing center.
Jurgens' likely replacement will be second-year
offensive lineman Willie Lampkin, who played the first two offensive snaps of his NFL career in Week 4.
The Eagles' offensive line will likely consist of Jordan Mailata at left tackle, Lampkin at left guard, Kendall at center, Tyler Steen at right guard and rookie Markel Bell at right tackle.
Eagles vs. Jaguars in London
The Eagles next play the Jacksonville Jaguars in London on Oct. 11.
Being thin at line against the Jaguars could prove costly.
The Jaguars feature one of the best defenses in the NFL this season, with eight takeaways, including six interceptions and two fumble recoveries.
The Jaguars dominated the Bengals in Week 4 behind Foye Oluokun, who was named AFC's Defensive Player of the Week for his efforts. Oluokun had a team-high seven tackles, one forced fumble, one quarterback hit and one interception of Bengals QB Joe Burrow in the Jaguars' 22-17 victory.
Jalen Hurts struggled against the Rams, throwing for just 93 yards on 12 of 27 passing against the Rams, including two touchdowns. Hurts is 24th in the league with 713 passing yards.
His day might not get any better. The Jaguars are 13th in the NFL in sacks with 10.
