Jacksonville high school football power rankings for Week 6

The Times-Union releases its Week 6 power rankings for the high school football season in Northeast Florida. These rankings will appear each week.

Reigning Florida High School Athletic Association champion Raines remains at No. 1 after an 18-point victory over formerly-unbeaten Mandarin, which hadn't lost to a Duval County public school since 2021.

1. Raines (5-0, District 3-3A)

Previous: 1.

Last week: Won 31-13 vs. Mandarin.

This week: Off.

Outlook: After statement victory over Mandarin, Raines has an extra week to rest until welcoming mighty Venice to the Graveyard.

2. Columbia (5-0, District 3-4A)

Previous: 4.

Last week: Won 27-20 at Trinity Christian.

This week: Sept. 25 vs. Riverside, 6:30 p.m.

Outlook: Wesli Haywood's pick-six adds to the defensive highlights for the Tigers, who may have area's best overall

resume.

3. St. Augustine (5-0, District 4-4A)

Previous: 3.

Last week: Won 24-20 vs. Orlando Evans.

This week: Sept. 24 vs. Clay, 7 p.m.

Outlook: Still-perfect Jackets find a way, earning their second come-from-behind win in four weeks.

4. Bolles (3-1, District 3-2A)

Previous: 5.

Last week: Won 42-24 vs. Oakleaf.

This week: Sept. 25 vs. Baldwin, 7 p.m.

Outlook: Last time Xander Edwards faced Baldwin, he accumulated 522 yards and eight touchdowns.

Week 5 football: Columbia, White, Beachside win. Who else finished on top?

5. White (3-1, District 3-4A)

Previous: 7.

Last week: Won 48-44 at Camden County.

This week: Sept. 25 vs. Yulee, 6:30 p.m.

Outlook: King Boylston, Vedo Jones and Rontrez Loyd combined to roll up 477 yards on the ground at Camden County.

6. Mandarin (3-1, District 2-5A)

Previous: 2.

Last week: Lost 31-13 at Raines.

This week: Sept. 25 at Fletcher, 6:30 p.m.

Outlook: After defeat in the Graveyard, Mustangs must recover quickly to face Fletcher.

7. Bradford (5-0, District 4-2A)

Previous: 6.

Last week: Won 48-10 at Tocoi Creek.

This week: Sept. 25 at Madison County, 7:30 p.m.

Outlook: Tornadoes are dominating, but only one of their opponents so far (Baker County) is ranked in Florida's top 280. That changes at Boot Hill.

8. Trinity Christian (2-3, District 5-1A)

Previous: 8.

Last week: Lost 27-20 vs. Columbia.

This week: Sept. 25 at NFEI, 7 p.m.

Outlook: Conquerors' three close losses came against serious opposition: White, American Heritage and most recently Columbia.

9. Fletcher (4-1, District 2-5A)

Previous: 9.

Last week: Won 48-0 at First Coast.

This week: Sept. 25 vs. Mandarin, 6:30 p.m.

Outlook: Senators' defense has allowed seven points in the last eight quarters ahead of battle against Mandarin.

10. University Christian (3-2, District 5-1A)

Previous: 10.

Last week: Won 42-14 vs. NFEI.

This week: Sept. 25 vs. Impact Christian, 7:30 p.m.

Outlook: UC is piling up the return touchdowns entering their district finale against Impact.

On the bubble: Baker County (4-1, District 2-3A), Bartram Trail (4-1, District 2-5A), Beachside (3-1, District 2-5A), Creekside (3-2, District 1-6A), Nease (1-3, District 2-5A), Oakleaf (2-2, District 3-5A)
