Double trouble: Christian Torres scored two goals in a two-minute span and Loudoun United sent Sporting Club Jacksonville men's soccer to another defeat, 4-1, in USL Championship action at Hodges Stadium.
Second-half slump: After Wan Kuzain had knotted the scores for Sporting Jax (3-18-5) by redirecting Emil Jaaskelainen's header, the hosts had a defensive breakdown just after halftime. Pacifique Niyongabire raced down the right and set up Torres for a 56th-minute tap-in, and the forward added another by finishing up a rebound off keeper Jake McGuire in the 58th.
Davis double, too: Eddy Davis III also struck twice for Loudoun, first putting away a Niyongabire assist in the fourth minute after a Sporting Jax defensive error and then scoring from
a Torres assist in the 73rd.
Quick free kicks: Sporting Jax took 17 shots but repeatedly encountered a barricade in Loudoun goalkeeper Jordan Farr, who made five saves. … Loudoun (4-10-11) remains alive in the USL Championship playoff chase. … The Sporting Jax goal differential dropped to minus-38, 14 goals worse than any other team in the 25-team league.
