Known for its Mediterranean-inspired bowls, pitas, dips, and dressings, a popular Washington, D.C.-based restaurant chain is opening its fifth Jacksonville restaurant.
CAVA debuted Monday, Aug. 24, at 9303 Baymeadows Road, Suite 101 in Baymeadows Park just east of Interstate 95 on the city's Southside.
“Our mission is to bring heart, health, and humanity to food, and everything we do at CAVA is grounded in that spirit of generosity to our guests, our team members, and our community,” Scott Sheffield, regional director, said in a news release announcing the opening.
“We couldn’t be more thrilled to be in Baymeadows Park and continue growing our presence in the Jacksonville area,” he said of the 2,316-square-foot restaurant.

CAVA's footprint in Jacksonville
In a deal completed in November 2018, the CAVA Group acquired Zoës Kitchen, which was its rival at the time. Zoës Kitchen shareholders received $12.75 per share in an all-cash transaction valued at approximately $300 million, CAVA announced in a news release at that time.
CAVA then converted the four established Zoës Kitchen restaurants in Jacksonville into its own brand.
The restaurant chain has about 476 locations in 29 states and the District of Columbia, including about 38 in Florida, according to the company website.
CAVA took over and renovated the Baymeadows Park space vacated by Burger Barn, which closed last year after a three-year run. The Mediterranean restaurant is directly across Baymeadows Road from 4 Rivers Smokehouse. It also neighbors First Watch, Starbucks and SpringHill Suites by Marriott.
CAVA is open from 10:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily.
