Tiny tots mobilized their two Jacksonville-area child care centers to support earthquake survivors in far away Venezuela.
Three- to-4-year-olds at Primrose School on Crosswater Parkway in Ponte Vedra Beach, which has 270 children enrolled, and Primrose School of Glen Kernan
in Jacksonville, with 215 children, collected toys, books and essential items. And they tie-dyed socks to add a "handmade touch," according to the school.The project was "incredibly meaningful," said Niki Lamar, education coach at Primrose School on Crosswater. "Experiences like this help children understand that even at a young age, their actions can make a difference in the lives of others."
On June 24, two major earthquakes struck Venezuela — magnitudes of 7.2 and 7.5 — damaging
buildings and infrastructure, displacing about 18,000 people from their homes and killing at least 6,000, according to news reports.
