One of Atlanta’s top 10 most-wanted fugitives was arrested Wednesday, Sept. 23, in Jacksonville.

Sheriff's Office SWAT team members, working with the Atlanta Police Department and the U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force, tracked 43-year-old Jonathan David Soto to an apartment complex on North Gate Parkway. The Sheriff's Office said he refused to come out when they surrounded the apartment, so they used "an energetic door breach to safely arrest him."

Jonathan Soto is taken into custody in Jacksonville on Sept. 23, 2026. He was one of Atlanta's most-wanted fugitives as a suspect in a 2023 murder of a popular nightclub co-owner.

Atlanta police identified Soto as a suspect after the high-profile murder of 50-year-old Michael Gidewon outside the Republic Lounge he co-owned on Feb. 4, 2023. He had been evading them ever since. Gidewon and his brother owned and operated some of metro Atlanta’s most popular clubs.

He was shot in

the head after an intoxicated man was escorted out of the Republic nightclub during an argument, police previously said.
