Known for its classic New England-style lobster rolls, a popular fast-casual seafood restaurant is shutting the doors of its only Jacksonville restaurant.
Mason's Famous Lobster Rolls will close Tuesday, Aug. 25, at 4668 Town Crossing Drive, Suite 105, in St. Johns Town Center — roughly 22 months after opening at the regional shopping center on the Southside.
Restaurant officials announced the closure plans on social media Saturday night, Aug. 22, saying "this is an incredibly difficult goodbye."
A restaurant employee on Sunday, Aug. 23, confirmed the upcoming closure to the Times-Union but declined further comment.

The Fernandina Beach location, at 708 Centre St. in the historic district, remains open. It opened in November 2023 and was the first in Northeast Florida.
The Town Center restaurant closure comes about a year after the Annapolis, Md.-based restaurant chain abruptly closed its Durbin Park location at 120 Durbin Pavilion Drive, Suite 101, on Sept. 30, 2025, after 10 months.
The St. Johns Town Center restaurant was the chain's second Northeast Florida location.
'With a very heavy heart'
Mason's posted, "It's with a very heavy heart," that it was announcing the closure.
"We truly wish things could have ended differently, but sometimes even the chapters we love have to come to an end," the restaurant said in its farewell post.
Mason's also thanked customers, the community and the employees for their support of the Town Center location.
"A restaurant is so much more than four walls and a sign above the door. It’s the people, the conversations, the familiar faces, and thousands of little moments that become memories. That’s what makes saying goodbye so hard," the post said.
Mason's is the latest restaurant to close in the trendy St. Johns Town Center area. Earlier this year, GEN Korean BBQ House quietly closed after 2 1/2-years. Bahama Breeze Island Grille closed in April, ending a 15-year run. And in June, Sugar Factory American Brasserie closed after just three years.
