The Florida High School Athletic Association opens district swimming meets this week for Class 1A and 2A teams in Jacksonville and Northeast Florida. See the Times-Union's meet previews. All schedules are as listed by the FHSAA but are subject to change.
District 2-2A
When: 11 a.m. Oct. 26 (diving), 11 a.m. Oct. 28 (swimming)
Where: Bolles (diving), Cecil Aquatic Center (swimming)
Teams: Baker County, Fernandina Beach, Paxon, Raines, Ribault, Stanton, Suwannee, West Nassau, Yulee
Outlook: While Baker County, Paxon and Suwannee can't be counted out, the contest for the top spots may come down to Nassau County champion Fernandina Beach and third-place Gateway Conference finisher Stanton. Fernandina Beach's Rileigh Revere and Skylar Revere could score high in girls
events at the state meet, while Dylan Brooks and Michael Tarzia are among the top Pirates on the boys side. For Stanton, keep an eye on Samuel Lee in the boys distance events and Sabrina Avila and Lucy Page following their Gateway girls performances.

District 3-2A
When: 10 a.m. Oct. 29
Where: Dwight H. Hunter Pool, Gainesville.
Teams: Alachua Santa Fe, Bishop Kenny, Gainesville Eastside, Menendez, Palatka, Parker, Riverside, Westside, Wolfson
Outlook: Eastside and Santa Fe will have home county advantage for this meet. But expect a strong showing from Bishop Kenny, winner of the Diocese of St. Augustine meet and coming off a 2025 state triumph on the boys side, and from Wolfson, runner-up in the Gateway Conference standings. Bishop Kenny's Lukas Morrell and Nik Morrell both won events at the Florida Catholic Invitational in September. Wolfson, meanwhile, is rising fast. Stanford-bound Izzy Riva is among the area's top overall girls in the pool and the Wolfpack will have two of Jacksonville's top ninth-grade swimmers in Luke Franzmathes and Baylee Finklehoffe.
District 2-1A
When: 10 a.m. Oct. 26 (diving), 10 a.m. Oct. 27 (swimming)
Where: Bolles (diving), Episcopal (swimming).
Teams: Baldwin, Bishop Snyder, Bolles, Cornerstone Classical, Episcopal, Florida Deaf, Harvest Community, Hilliard, Jackson, Providence, St. Johns Country Day, St. Joseph, University Christian
Outlook: This should surprise no one: Bolles is the overwhelming favorite for districts and beyond. The Bulldogs have won the FHSAA boys team state championship in every season since 1988 and the girls championship since 1991. Even in a year of relative transition in some events, they're deep and dominant, with top performers including Camp Hartman, Thi Rai, Charlie Russell, Allison Kelly, Ana LaRosa and Heidi Stoute. But other area schools can still pick up their share of points, particularly Episcopal, with the reigning All-First Coast girls swimmer of the year in Blakely Hammelas well as boys contender Finn Zubero.
