A year ago, the Times-Union's Super 11 of the 2025 high school football season were dominating the gridirons of Northeast Florida.
Now, they're testing their skills against the best in the college game.
Last year's annual selection of top-rated recruits from the Jacksonville area includes several players who have already made their first appearances just a month into their college careers. One, former St. Augustine receiver Somourian Wingo, already has his first touchdown at the next level.
The Super 11 from 2025 are scattered across the rosters of eight Football Bowl Subdivision programs, including two at Oklahoma and three at Miami.
Where are they now? Here's where the First Coast's premier recruits from last fall are beginning their college football
journeys.
WR Naeem Burroughs
High school: Bolles
College: Clemson
Burroughs finished his high school career near the top of Northeast Florida's all-time list in numerous categories, including 3,782 yards and 52 receiving touchdowns. As a four-star senior, he caught 58 passes for 1,275 yards and 18 touchdowns, including three in the FHSAA Class 2A final against Cardinal Mooney. At Clemson, Burroughs is listed as a second-team receiver on the depth chart (with an "or" designation) but he's still awaiting his first college catch entering the weekend.
S Simeon Caldwell
High school: Bolles
College: Ohio State
Caldwell finished his senior year with two interceptions, two fumble recoveries, a forced fumble, 112 tackles and some other key contributions, including a fake punt for a touchdown in the Class 2A final. A four-star recruit, he committed to the Buckeyes in April 2025 and signed in December. He has appeared in the first three Ohio State games as a true freshman, including the Texas game, and he has two tackles so far.
LB Jacob Curry
High school: Nease
College: Oklahoma
The versatile Curry originally selected Northwestern before de-committing in the summer and choosing Oklahoma in October 2025. His senior season led to a second All-First Coast selection, including 101 tackles, 21 tackles for loss, 12 sacks and 12 pass breakups in a hybrid linebacker/defensive back role in Nease's swarming defense. An off-season injury forced Curry out of action for most of the spring at Oklahoma, and he's still awaiting his first college game.
TE Corbyn Fordham
High school: Bolles
College: Florida State
Fordham was one of several area players committed at one time to Ohio State, before de-committing in October and selecting Florida State in November 2025. He's a second-generation Seminole, after his father Todd Fordham won a national championship on the offensive line in 1993. In his senior year at Bolles, he caught 27 passes for 311 yards and three touchdowns while contributing to an excellent ground game. So far, he hasn't played for the Seminoles in 2026.
DT Brian Harris
High school: Creekside
College: Oklahoma
An all-around disruptive player on the defensive line, the 6-5, 291-pound Harris transferred before his senior year (from Mandarin to Creekside) and flipped his college commitment (from Maryland to Oklahoma). He contributed to the Knights' district championship run in 2025. At Oklahoma, Harris appeared in his first college football game on Sept. 4 when the Sooners defeated UTEP.
CB Brody Jennings
High school: Mandarin
College: Miami
Jennings continued the long line of secondary success with the Mustangs. He earned first-team All-First Coast as a senior at Mandarin, finishing with four interceptions, eight pass breakups and 23 tackles. Committed to Michigan early in the recruiting process, the four-star corner flipped to Miami in July 2025 and signed in December. He earned his first college football tackle on Sept. 10 in the Canes' 77-7 victory over Florida A&M.
DE Jarius Rodgers
High school: Fleming Island
College: Syracuse
An athletic edge rusher who also made an impact in track and field, the 6-4, 240-pound Rodgers committed to the Orange in January 2025 and stayed with them through signing in December. He made his NCAA debut on Sept. 5 as Syracuse defeated New Hampshire.
WR Diondre Smith
High school: Fletcher
College: Iowa
The recruiting process was fairly straightforward for the speedy Smith, who committed to the Hawkeyes in April 2025 and signed in December. Smith set new career highs in receiving yards (489) and receiving touchdowns (10) during his senior year at Fletcher, although the Senators missed out on the playoffs. As of late September, he's still awaiting his college football debut at Iowa.
OL JJ Sparks
High school: Bolles
College: Miami
A four-year starter for Bolles, Sparks wrapped up his high school career as a first-team All-First Coast selection at guard on the city's most dominant rushing attack. He committed to Miami in April 2025 and ended up signing with the Canes in December. Sparks has not yet played a game for Miami, not unusual for a freshman offensive lineman at a power-conference program.
LB Tony Williams
High school: Raines
College: Illinois
Williams completed his high school career as a state champion at Raines. He contributed in several roles in the Vikings' run to the Class 3A championship, finishing with 58 tackles (seven for loss), four sacks and two fumble recoveries. Committed to the Fighting Illini since April 2025, he signed in December and made his college debut on Sept. 19 against the Salukis of Southern Illinois.
WR Somourian Wingo
High school: St. Augustine
College: Miami
A Yellow Jackets game-breaker downfield, Wingo caught 46 passes for 827 yards and 13 touchdowns with his blend of speed and open-field elusiveness. He also rushed for three touchdowns to lead St. Augustine to the FHSAA regional final. At Miami, the four-star receiver is already getting snaps and receptions, catching two passes in the season opener against Stanford and two more -- including a 47-yard touchdown -- in a Sept. 10 victory over Florida A&M.
