The Jacksonville Jaguars will soon announce their practice squad roster.
One day after making roster cuts, they'll likely be able to retain several of the players they cut. The only player from Jacksonville that was claimed on waivers was Yasir Abdullah. He's headed to the Atlanta Falcons after spending his entire career with the Jaguars.
That'll be good news for the Jaguars as they get the option to retain a majority of the players they parted ways with at the cut deadline. The group of potential returners is headlined by quarterback Joey Aguilar, who showed upside in the preseason by completing 17 of 20 passes for 230 yards and a touchdown in limited reps.
In
addition to Aguilar, the team will be able to bring back several veteran players. It'll allow them experience to turn to should they need to activate players on gameday due to injury.
The Jaguars are allowed to carry an extra player on their practice squad roster thanks to the International Player Pathway program. Offensive lineman Kilian Zierer won't count against their total and they are able to roster the full allotment of 16 players in addition to the international player.
10 of those spots must be filled with players that have less than two accrued years of experience in the NFL. The remaining six spots are available for players no matter their experience level.
Jaguars reportedly bring back Trebor Pena
According to ESPN's Jeremy Fowler, rookie undrafted free agent Trebor Pena is among the players rejoining the Jaguars. Pena was a standout for the team in the preseason, logging several impressive catches.
