St. Johns County has opened its new Public Service Center, creating a one-stop location where residents can take care of a variety of county, clerk of court and comptroller services.
These include marriage licenses and wedding ceremonies, passport applications, Value Adjustment Board applications, public records searches, deeds, notices of commencement, plats and planned unit development maps.
The center is at 4040 Lewis Speedway in St. Augustine and "is a collaborative effort between St. Johns County and the clerk’s office to improve public access, streamline services, and create a more convenient experience for residents," according to the county.
It also provides access to county permitting services in the same building. Residents used to have
to complete certain transactions at multiple locations such as the county’s permit center, courthouse and the government complex.
People will start at kiosks and follow directions to their appropriate service or task. Closer parking also is available and less wait time for people to complete their business.
The Public Service Center is open 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.
Court operations and proceedings, including jury duty, child support assistance, petitions for restraining orders and traffic ticket payments, continue to be handled at the Richard O. Watson Judicial Center, 4010 Lewis Speedway.
