An argument during a pickup basketball game at Clanzel T. Brown Park led to a fatal shooting and a suspect taken in custody by Jacksonville police.
It happened about 5:45 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 16, on the courts at 4575 Moncrief Road. Witnesses said a group at was playing basketball when the victim and suspect began to argue, "and the suspect produced a firearm shooting the victim before leaving the scene on foot," according to the Sheriff's Office.
Witnesses helped identify a suspect who was detained a short distance away. No names or ages or further details have been released, but the Times-Union has requested the incident and arrest reports.
