A man riding a minibike died Thursday, Oct. 1 in a collision with an SUV, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office.
The crash occurred about 3:45 p.m. on Moncrief Road near 45th Street. A red SUV traveling south on Moncrief Road attempted to turn left onto 45th Street and struck the minibike rider, according to a JSO news release.
The victim, described as a man in his late 20s, was taken to a local hospital by Jacksonville Fire Rescue Department personnel, where he was pronounced dead.
The incident marks the 125th traffic fatality in Duval County this year and the 17th involving a motorcycle, according to Jacksonville police.
