For Northeast Florida, playoff time is now.

Beachside made history as the Jacksonville area's first-ever qualifier for an Open Division tournament in any sport, highlighting the Florida High School Athletic Association's bracket release on Oct. 18 for the volleyball playoffs.

The eight-team Open Division includes the highest-rated teams across all states and all classes in the FHSAA ranking system. The top eight are split into Pool A (Nos. 1, 4, 5 and 8) and Pool B (Nos. 2, 3, 6 and 7). Beachside landed the No. 6 seed overall.

The regional tournaments across six standard classes, the Rural class and the new eight-team Open Division all lead to November's FHSAA final four tournament in Winter

Haven. There, Northeast Florida schools will be chasing down the area's first championship since Middleburg in 2023.

The FHSAA used its ranking formula to hand out at-large berths, four per region per class for Classes 1A through 6A, who qualify for postseason along with the champions of each district. Seeds are based on the association's rankings formula.

Classes 1A through 3A begin their regionals on Oct. 20, followed by 4A through 6A and the Open Division on Oct. 21 and the Rural class on Oct. 24.

Beachside's Kathleen Patch (3) bumps the ball during the first set of a high school volleyball matchup on Tuesday, Oct. 6, 2026 in St. Johns, Fla. The Beachside Barracudas won the first set 27-25. The Beachside Barracudas swept the Bishop Kenny Crusaders 3-0 (27-25, 25-23, 25-20).
