The Jacksonville Jaguars are already beat up in the secondary and two defensive backs, cornerbacks Montaric Brown and Christian Braswell were on the inactive list because of injuries.
In the first quarter of their game at Cincinnati on Oct. 4, the Jags lost another DB. Safety Caleb Ransaw, who backs up Antonio Johnson and is a vital member of most of the special teams, left the game with a knee injury and was taken to the locker room.
A short time later, his return was announced as questionable.
Ransaw, a second-year player from Tulane who missed his entire rookie season with a foot injury, had eight tackles on defense and two on special teams this season.
Ransaw's loss might be felt more on special teams, where he is one of the players who get
downfield consistently to cover kickoffs and punts.
With rookie safety Jalen Huskey also placed on the inactive list after the game, the Jaguars are down to six healthy defensive backs for the rest of the game against the Bengals stout group of wide receivers: cornerbacks Travis Hunter, Jourdan Lewis and Jarrian Jones, and safeties Eric Murray, Johnson and Rayuan Lane.
Hunter got an apparent interception of Joe Burrow while covering Tee Higgins but it was nullified by a roughing the passer penalty on tackle Arik Armstead.
