VOTE: Times-Union High School Girls Athlete of the Week, Aug. 31

Baldwin's Tynlee Jarrell is the new Florida Times-Union Girls Athlete of the Week for Northeast Florida high school sports for the 2026-27 season, covering the week of Aug. 17-24 in the Jacksonville area.

The junior setter recorded 26 assists to win the season-opening match against Yulee, surpassing 1,000 assists for her high school career and helping Baldwin to a 3-0 start.

She placed first in a vote of top Northeast Florida performers that included Lillie Eason (Fleming Island volleyball), Avery Hartley (Bartram Trail cross-country), Chloe McGrath (Bolles golf) and Piper Ross (Ponte Vedra cross-country).

It's time to vote for Florida Times-Union's Girls High School Athlete of the Week for the week of Aug. 24-29.

The Times-Union

gathers nominees from scores, stats and nominations e-mailed to the sports desk during the week by coaches across Northeast Florida. Coaches can e-mail these stats and scores to [e-mail]. Deadline to receive nominations is 7 p.m. Saturdays.

This week's voting begins Monday morning and closes at 10 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 3. Votes are restricted to once per device per hour. Vote at jacksonville.com/sports.

Kaia Carpenedo, Atlantic Coast volleyball

The sophomore recorded 29 kills and 18 digs in wins against Christ's Church and Creekside.

Honor Donaldson, Providence golf

The freshman won medalist honors with a 73 at Marsh Landing in the Birdies at Bold City Invitational.

Nova Hewlett, Trinity Christian volleyball

The senior bashed 35 kills as the Conquerors defeated Fletcher in five sets.

Kaleigh Marquart, Keystone Heights volleyball

The senior had 70 assists in Keystone's wins against Clay and Orange Park.

Rileigh Revere, Fernandina Beach swimming

The senior won the 100-yard butterfly (1:01.84) and 100 backstroke (1:01.72) in a four-team Nassau County meet.
