An Uber driver is accused of groping a female passenger earlier this year after he stopped to let her boyfriend out of the car.
The incident allegedly happened during the early hours of April 27 after the couple called the rideshare to take them to Bristol after spending the evening drinking alcohol at a Northeast Philadelphia bar, according to a probable cause affidavit.
When the car arrived, the victim allegedly recognized the driver — identified as Wael Hagag, 40, of Bristol Borough— as an employee at a pizza restaurant on Mill Street in the borough.
On the return drive, Hagag stopped the car in the 300 block of Mill Street so the victim’s
boyfriend could get out and urinate in a nearby alley, the affidavit said.
While the boyfriend's back was turned, the victim alleges Hagag got out of the car and approached her from behind, put his hands on her and sexually assaulted her.
The victim screamed for help and her boyfriend turned around and saw the assault, the affidavit alleges.
Hagag immediately let go of the victim, got into his car and drove away, the affidavit said.
Hagag was arraigned Oct 7 before District Judge David Chichilitti on a misdemeanor indecent assault charge and summary harassment and released on unsecured bail. He did not have legal representation as of Oct. 9, according to the court docket.
