A popular New Jersey-based ice cream shop opened the doors to its new Bucks County location over the weekend.
Humdoo Ice Cream, a favorite spot among locals in Flemington, celebrated its grand opening on Saturday, Aug. 8 in Buckingham, where it’s taken the place of the old Candlewyck tavern on Durham Road.
The handcrafted ice cream business, which was started in 2021 by Gabriella Truppi who was just 20 at the time, is a dedicated peanut and tree nut-free shop, a decision which was inspired Truppi’s sister who is highly allergic to nuts.
“It was always such a bummer to see her upset when she couldn’t get ice cream. So, I really wanted to be a safe place for her and also others with allergies and their families,” Truppi said in a May interview, shortly
after announcing the new store.
The menu includes best sellers like Chocoholic, Campfire S’mores, Rich and Famous and Lemon Bar, while offering a rotation of fun flavors, such as Cherry Amaretto, Blueberry Waffle Cone and Banana Pudding.
One of Truppi’s favorites is the Jolted Cow, a coffee ice cream with caramel and brownies.
Dairy-free options are available. And in addition to ice cream cones and cups, the menu includes milkshakes and ice cream flights. The shop also offers custom orders on ice cream sandwiches and ice cream cakes.
