A Feasterville man is accused of selling illegal drugs that killed an Upper Southampton man more than two years ago.
Gerald Mak, 53, of Feasterville, was arraigned before District Judge Mark Douple on Sept. 2 on three felony charges including drug delivery resulting in death and related misdemeanors in the July 7, 2024 death of Michael Tinari.
Mak was transferred to Bucks County Correctional Center in lieu of $250,000 bail. He had no legal representation as of Sept. 9, according to the public court docket.
Doylestown Township police allege they responded to a death investigation in the 50 block of Pine Wood Drive where they found Tinari, 37, dead
on the ground in front of a car.
While blood was dripping from his nose, it was not immediately clear how Tinari died, according to a probable cause affidavit.
An autopsy later confirmed Tinari died of methamphetamine toxicity, the affidavit said.
Tinari’s girlfriend told police that he snorted methamphetamines and another friend alleged Tinari started using meth a few years earlier after he was introduced to the drug by a man named “Gerry,” the affidavit said.
The friend allegedly told police that Tinari only bought the drug from “Gerry,” and that he bought it several times a week.
When police examined Tinari electronic devices they found multiple emails and Venmo payments going back to 2023 to accounts that allegedly belonged to Mak.
The Venmo payment history showed Tinari made 64 transactions with the account associated with Mak with the last payment recorded July 4, three days before Tinari died, which was also the last day his friends alleged they saw him alive.
After Tinari died, the friend contacted Mak who said that he last saw him on July 4, but allegedly denied selling Tinari drugs that day.
Tinari was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran who completed several deployments including three to Afghanistan and received several commendations for exemplary courage and service, according to his obituary.
