A Bensalem man is accused of pursuing and exchanging sexually explicit images with a half dozen girls, some as young as 10, that he met on popular social media and gaming apps.
Valeed Anjum, 27, allegedly
also admitted to meeting a 12-year-old girl for sex earlier this year.
Bensalem detectives opened an investigation in April after receiving a tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children about a Snapchat account reportedly transmitting sexually explicit images to minors, according to an affidavit of probable cause.
The tip alleged Anjum sent photos of his exposed penis to a 10-year-old girl using a “burner” account on Snapchat.
When a detective reviewed Anjum’s Snapchat account he identified a half dozen other underage girls he sent sexually explicit material and engaged in sexually charged conversations, the affidavit said.
Most additional victims he contacted on Snapchat, but at least one he met on the gaming app Roblox, the affidavit said.
The girls ranged in age from 10 to 15. None live in Pennsylvania, but three live in neighboring New Jersey, the affidavit said.
In one message to an underage girl, he wrote to a 13-year-old that he likes “young girls” and the age gap “turns me on lowk.”
According to the affidavit the allegations against Anjum include:
- He sent photos of his exposed penis to a 10 year-old in Mississippi, who then blocked him and reported him to Snapchat.
- He exchanged sexually explicit photos with a 13-year-old in New Jersey who allegedly told him her age. Anjum electronically also sent the girl money at least twice, and she shared her location with him on a location tracking app.
- He exchanged sexually explicit images with a 12-year-old girl in New Jersey and attempted to meet her to give her a birthday present.
- He promised to send money on Roblox to a 15-year-old New Jersey girl if she sent him a photo of her bare buttock, which she did, but he never sent her money. He also sent her a photo of his exposed penis.
Police allege there were other underage girls who Anjum appeared to have “sexually charged” conversations with, and they believe he used multiple Snapchat accounts for this reason. Police have not yet identified additional victims.
When authorities interviewed Anjum on Oct. 1 he admitted using Snapchat to engage in sexually explicit conversations with underage girls, the affidavit said.
He also allegedly admitted to meeting with a 12-year-old girl in South Jersey and engaged in sexual acts with her. The Gloucester County Prosecutor’s Office has filed charges against him, the affidavit said.
In Bucks County, Anjum was arraigned Oct. 1 before District Judge Joseph Falcone on 30 felonies involving child-sex related offenses including multiple counts of unlawful contact with a minor and engaging in contact with a minor for sexual purposes.
He was transferred to Bucks County Corrections center in lieu of $10 million bail and had no legal representation listed as of Oct. 2 on the public court docket.
