More than 21,000 bottles of Viatros Inc. blood pressure medication have been recalled nationwide.
The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) announced a class III recall of Viatris Inc.'s combination telmisartan and amlodipine pill because it may contain more telmisartan than specified.
According to the notice, the recall was voluntarily initiated by Viatris on Oct. 1.
The FDA did not specify how much additional telmisartan is in the tablets. However, the National Library of Medicine warned that an overdosage of the specific medication could cause low blood pressure, dizziness or a rapid heart rate.
As a class III recall, the FDA has determined that use of the drug is not likely to cause health consequences.
