A new bar in Doylestown — dedicated exclusively to alcohol-free beverages — is preparing to welcome its first customers through its doors this week.
Free Spirit Social House
, a zero-proof cocktail bar and café created by Free Spirit in Buckingham owner Christi Vigilante, is set to open Friday, Aug. 14 in the space located directly under Zad Albasha Mediterranean Grill along South Main Street between the Gap and Serendipity.Vigilante, who partnered with Jared Schafkopf, the founder of Yerba Mate Life, and his dad, Gary Schafkopf, said they wanted to expand on what she began in Buckingham with her bottle shop by building a gathering space where customers can enjoy nonalcoholic craft cocktails, kava, yerba mate, coffee, teas and food in a social
setting.
“It’s just really nice people like what we do enough to want more of it, and now we’re able to build something bigger to offer the community,” Vigilante said in an interview this July.
Its drink menu is to feature a robust selection of nonalcoholic craft cocktails made using zero-proof spirits, infusions and housemade syrups. A traditional kava service and yerba mate service is to be another focal point alongside specialty coffees and tea beverages.
The bar and café is also to serve a food menu that includes a mix of nostalgic American favorites, plus Vietnamese and Korean-style street food.
Once up and running, Free Spirit Social House’s hours are to be 4-10 p.m. Thursday through Sunday through Labor Day.
Following this launch, it's to be open daily with the following hours:
- Sunday from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.
- Monday through Thursday from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.
- Friday and Saturday from 11 a.m. to midnight
Once the expanded hours begin, the café is also to offer a small breakfast-style menu on the weekends with items such as scones, egg sandwiches, waffles and bagels.
