A piece of New Hope history and a part of this river town's dining scene is up for sale.
Oldestone Steakhouse opened after the iconic Marsha Brown restaurant closed in 2021 at 15 S. Main Street, preserving the rare church setting with the property's iconic stained-glass windows, original pews, towering ceilings and massive mural.
Brown, who served refined Southern cuisine in the 1870s church for over 20 years, closed up shop after the pandemic to take care of a sister outside of Bucks County.
But just five years later, the former New Hope Methodist Episcopal Church is up for grabs. The Gothic Revival-style home of Oldestone Steakhouse hit the market Tuesday for $4.25 million. The restaurant was taking online reservations as of Thursday morning
and was still actively marketing online this week.
The property was first listed in June for nearly $6 million and had already undergone a price reduction before its most recent listing.
The price includes the restaurant's furniture, fixtures, equipment and liquor license.
"Dramatic chandeliers, expansive dining spaces, original architectural elements, and a distinctive third-floor lounge contribute to an ambiance rarely found in commercial properties," the listing reads.
The church was a place of worship for more than a century until Marsha Brown opened in 2003. The former sanctuary is Oldestone's 120-seat dining room and the former pulpit is its host stand.
Throughout its two floors amassing 7,000 square feet, Oldestone also includes a downstairs bar, upstairs loft with a bar, and a private parlor.
