National Taco Day, celebrated each year on the first Tuesday of October, is just around the corner.
In 2026, the holiday falls on Oct. 6. But you don’t need to wait for Taco Tuesday to enjoy this favorite Mexican staple.
Throughout Bucks County, there are many wonderful locally owned Hispanic restaurants and taquerias to choose from, each one serving up one-of-a-kind family recipes and a diversity of flavors representing the various regions of Mexico.
One such restaurant is El Colibri in Bristol, which in July, was voted best taco spot in Bucks County in our monthly readers poll.
The mother-daughter owned business started 20 years ago as a small takeout taqueria in the back of La Mexicana Grocery Store and has since grown a large following through
word-of-mouth and social media, thanks to an attentiveness to their Hispanic neighbors and a commitment to delivering authentic dishes.
El Colibri’s menu features many regional Mexican recipes and street food favorites, such as tacos, gorditas, enchiladas, sopes, tortas, elote, carnitas, tamales and many other specialty dishes, including Huevos a La Mexicana, Coctel de Camaron and Chicharron Preparado.
And in addition to homemade desserts, such as flan and tres leches, they also serve La Michoacana, Mexican ice cream and popsicles in-house using fresh ingredients.
