A Perkasie man is accused of firing a loaded crossbow at his neighbor while he was doing yardwork.
Hilltown police allege officers were called to a home in the 3200 block of Rickert Road last month for a report that someone shot an arrow using a crossbow at a man, but hit his lawn mowing equipment instead, according to an affidavit of probable cause.
At the scene police found an 8-inch arrow, the affidavit said. No injuries were reported.
The victim identified the shooter as Andre Pelletier, 56, who police allege was standing in the rear of the victim’s property.
Police said that Pelletier was involved in a previous incident with the same neighbor a year
before that resulted in him being charged with assault, the affidavit said.
When police spoke with Pelletier he initially denied firing an arrow at anything, and denied he knew the victim was there, the affidavit said. But then he allegedly admitted to firing the crossbow, but said he was aiming at a compost pile.
Pelletier was arraigned before District Judge Regina Armitage on a felony aggravated assault charge and related misdemeanors and released on unsecured bail. He had no legal representation as of Aug. 3, according to the public court docket.
