A Bucks County man will not face an attempted murder charge for shooting at another driver five times, striking her wrist, during a road rage incident last year.
At a court appearance July 29, Christopher Corbi, 41, of Upper Southampton entered a guilty plea to two felony aggravated assault counts and seven related misdemeanor offenses.
Common Pleas Judge Wallace Bateman Jr. accepted the plea and deferred sentencing to later this year. Corbi remains free after posting bail.
As part of the plea deal, the DA dropped an attempted first-degree murder charge Corbi faced in the Oct. 27, 2025 incident on the Newtown Bypass, which carries a potential maximum sentence of up to 40 years in state prison.
He still faces a potential maximum prison sentence of
up to 30 years on the two remaining felony charges alone.
Middletown Township police alleged that Corbi fired several shots at a female driver who attempted to pass him and after she followed him to report his license plate to police.
The incident unfolded at the end of the evening rush hour as the victim and Corbi were traveling in the right lane of the Newtown Bypass between Summit Trace and Woodbourne roads, police said.
The victim attempted to move into the left lane to pass a Corbi when she noticed something silver coming from the direction of his Honda Civic, police said. She then noticed her front passenger side window had what appeared to be a bullet hole in it.
The woman immediately slowed down and let the Civic pass her so she could see the license plate and call 911, court documents alleged. She followed the Civic into the Swan Pointe community in Middletown.
After turning onto Swift Road, Corbi allegedly slammed on his brakes, exited his car and fired several shots as he walked toward the woman inside her car. He then stepped back into the Civic and drove away, police said.
The woman was treated for a bullet wound to her wrist.
After he was taken into custody, Corbi admitted that he fired into the vehicle on the Newtown Bypass and the Swan Pointe neighborhood.
He told police he then threw the gun and a box of ammunition in trash cans in a Newtown Township shopping center, which were later retrieved by police.
