Bensalem police are looking to identify a man who stole a rifle from a retail store after presenting a sales associate with phony paperwork.
The incident happened Oct. 16 shortly after 1:30 p.m. at the Walmart in the 3400 block of Horizon Boulevard.
Police responded to a report of a retail theft when they learned a man wearing a black jacket and dark blue jeans carrying a collapsible scooter entered the store. While inside, he allegedly put on a bright-yellow hunting vest and picked up a rifle bag that were for sale, according to police.

The man then approached an employee in the sporting goods department and presented fraudulent paperwork providing “clearance” for a Winchester .308 rifle, police said.
Surveillance footage shows the male entering
a restricted employees-only area, where he placed the rifle inside the rifle bag before leaving the store through the garden area, police said. Shortly before 2 p.m. the suspect was captured on surveillance footage traveling through the Neshaminy Mall parking lot toward a SEPTA bus stop.
Anyone with information regarding this incident or who can assist in identifying the male depicted in the surveillance images is asked to contact Bensalem Police Detective Tom Jackson at (215) 633-3667.
