A free day at the zoo is being offered in Norristown this Labor Day.
As the summer comes to an end, the Elmwood Park Zoo is offering free parking and admission to visitors Sept. 7.
“Labor Day is one of those final opportunities for families to spend a day together before summer officially comes to a close, and we’re excited to open our gates and welcome everyone to experience the Zoo for free,” Al Zone, CEO of Elmwood Park Zoo, said in a recent release.
“Being part of this community means a great deal to us, and days like this allow us to make the Zoo accessible to even more families while giving them the opportunity to see all of the exciting things happening
here.”
Guests should have the opportunity to explore up-close animal encounters, interactive exhibits, the Zoo Brew Beer Garden, carousel and other family-friendly attractions, including many new additions such as Pallas’s cats, red foxes and a gray fox, plus "The Defenders," a themed exhibit which showcases the unique ways animals protect and defend themselves through comic book illustrations.
Labor Day also marks one of the final opportunities for guests to visit North American river otters Piper and Jet before the pair departs Elmwood Park Zoo for a new home.

What are Elmwood Park Zoo's hours on Labor Day?
Elmwood Park Zoo is scheduled to be open to all guests from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Zoo members are to have early access beginning at 9 a.m.
Advance registration is strongly encouraged. Guests can preregister online ahead of their visit to help ensure a smooth arrival experience. Increased attendance is expected throughout the day, according to the release.
When does Elmwood Park Zoo close for the season?
Elmwood Park Zoo stays open year-round, offering special programming and seasonal events throughout the year, including Drive-In Zoovie Nights, Boo at the Zoo, Wild Lights and Brunch with Santa.
