A New Jersey man with a history of seizures will not serve jail time for causing a near fatal car accident in New Hope where he was charged with felony assault.
At a Sept. 30 Bucks County court appearance Jeffrey Faigle, 57, of Stockton, entered guilty pleas to charges including felony aggravated assault by vehicle, and related misdemeanors and traffic violations.
Common Pleas Judge Stephen Corr accepted the plea and sentenced Faigle to serve seven years probation with the first 12 months on house arrest, an agreementthe District Attorney’s Office had worked out with him earlier this year.
Faigle also must voluntarily surrender his driver’s license and agree never to seek its reinstatement and provide proof of his license status to his probation
officer, under the agreement.
Faigle was behind the wheel on April 28, 2025 when he was involved in a crash with an Audi at the intersection of South Sugan and Old York roads, police said.
Police found the Audi's driver unresponsive. The woman was transported to St. Mary Medical Center with life-threatening injuries.
When police spoke with Faigle at the accident scene, he told them he didn’t remember what happened.
Investigators learned Faigle is an epileptic, and he was speeding when he suffered a seizure and he lost control of his vehicle and crossed into the southbound lane of South Sugan Road where he struck the Audi head-on, an affidavit of probable cause said.
Faigle had a valid driver’s license at the time, though his history of seizures required him to report to the New Jersey Department of Motor Vehicles to keep his driver’s license.
His last report to the department that he suffered a seizure in 2020, but police records show he was involved in a 2021 car accident in Middletown attributed to a seizure.
Shortly after the New Hope accident, Faigle allegedly told police that he suffers seizures regularly.
