A pedestrian was struck and killed on Woodbourne Road in Middletown, early Tuesday, police said.
Middletown police responded to the incident at 3:34 a.m. at Woodbourne Road between Quincy Drive and Quarry Road.
The crash was in the southbound lanes of the highway, toward Bristol Township.
“The driver of the vehicle remained at the scene and reported the crash,” police said.
The pedestrian, whose identity was not given, had life-threatening injuries when police arrived. The injured person was taken to a hospital and died later.
While Woodbourne Road has shoulders, it is not made specifically for pedestrians. People can be seen walking mere feet from traffic moving at 40 mph and faster.
