How you can help the families of the two Philadelphia police officers
Seiber, 40, a U.S. Air Force veteran, and married father of two young children, marked his 10th anniversary with the Philadelphia Police Department last month. He is the fourth Philadelphia police officerkilled in the line of duty since 2023, according to the department.
A GoFundMecampaign for the family has raised nearly $160,000 as of Oct. 16. The money will help Seiber’s wife with immediate expenses and “the long road ahead.”
“Shane spent his life protecting people, and now this community is protecting the people he loved most. Lisa, Finn, and Emily are surrounded by your love.,” campaign organizer Jessica Wagner said in an Oct. 14 update on the website. "What this community has done is nothing short of extraordinary, and it will never be forgotten."
A second Go-Fund-Me campaign for the family of Seiber's partner, Philadelphia Police officer Hector Rodriguez III, who shot 12 times, but survived, has raised nearly $35,000 as of Oct. 16 for the father of five and nine year veteran of the city police force.

Seiber was fatally wounded shortly after midnight on Oct. 11 after he Rodriguez responded to a report of an armed man at a West Philadelphia home.
As the officers were knocking on the door, the suspect, Eric Lewis, 35, came up behind them with a firearm. A struggle ensued during which both officers were shot multiple times, according to Philadelphia police.
Additional police response was met with more gunfire followed and a barricade with SWAT response, before Lewis was eventually taken into custody; he is being held without bail on homicide of a law enforcement officer and 10 counts of attempted homicide of a law enforcement officer and related charges.
The responding officers found Seiber and Rodriguez bleeding and unresponsive on the front porch.
The wounded officers were rushed to Penn Presbyterian Hospital where Seiber died hours later from three gunshot wounds. Rodriguez remains hospitalized and expected to undergo more surgeries, according to the Philadelphia Police Department.
