Lisa Hoffman is Quakertown Community School District’s next superintendent, taking the top spot after being part of the district leadership team for 16 years.
The district’s Board of School Directors unanimously approved her appointment at its Aug. 4 meeting.
“Throughout the search, Dr. Hoffman clearly demonstrated she has the integrity, experience, judgment, and forward-looking approach the Board expects in a leader,” School Board President David O’Donnell said. “She knows this district and understands this community.”
Hoffman, who has been serving as the school district’s interim superintendent since March 2026, is succeeding former superintendent Matthew Friedman,
who went on leave in February 2026 and stepped down shortly after.
After he left the position, Friedman received a payout of more than $200,000 under a severance agreement that is paying him through 2026.
Hoffman had served as the district’s assistant superintendent since 2017. She earned a salary of $212,668 during the 2025-26 school year. The school board increased Friedman’s salary to $233,000 last November.
“This community has shaped my career, and I care deeply about its future,” Hoffman said. “My commitment is to lead with integrity, listen carefully, make thoughtful decisions, and always keep students at the center of our work.”
The Quakertown Community School District made news earlier this year when a cancelled in-school anti-Immigration and Customs Enforcement protest moved to town and turned violent.
Hoffman’s term is effective as of July 1. She will welcome students for the 2026-27 school year when classes begin on Aug. 31.
