After Chief Meteorologist Cecily Tynan announced her retirement from 6ABC this week, the discussion turns to who will be her replacement.
6ABC has a history of promoting from within when high-profile talent leaves.
Three meteorologists on staff are potential candidates: Karen Rogers, who handles weekday mornings; Adam Joseph who is on weekday afternoons; and Brittany Boyer, who joined the team in 2021 and works weekends and some weeknight shifts.
Is there any speculation that former 6ABC weatherman Chris Sowers is returning to his former employer? Sowers moved back to the area, leaving his job with a Florida station earlier this year, but seems content to blog about the weather at this point through his YouTube channel and Facebook page.
Tynan has
spent more than 35 years in broadcast, according to 6ABC. Now, she'll be preparing for her last taping in the Philly market.
"I'm so honored to have been a member of the 6abc Action News team for more than three decades, starting as the station's first-ever weekend meteorologist, then becoming its first female chief meteorologist. I'm proud of the work we've done and thankful to 6abc viewers for trusting me with their weather forecasts," Tynan shared in the news station's announcement.

Tynan started with 6ABC in 1995, the news station shared, working as a weekend weather anchor and general assignment reporter.
In 2009, she became the station's chief meteorologist, and for the last two years viewers have grown accustomed to seeing Tynan at the 5 p.m., 6 p.m. and 11 p.m. broadcasts.
When is Cecily Tynan's last day at 6ABC?
Tynan's last broadcast is scheduled for Monday, Aug. 31.
