This year marks the 25th anniversary of the Sept. 11, 2001 terrorist attacks that took the lives of 18 Bucks County residents and 2,977 total victims. Over the years, the victims of the attacks have not been forgotten as officials across the county continue to find ways to remember those who lost their lives. All over Bucks County, you can find beams from the World Trade Center, memorials, ceremonies and other ways to honor the victims and their families of the terrorist attacks.
The Garden of Reflection — 1950 Woodside Road, Yardley, PA 19067
The Garden of Reflection sits on 2.5 acres within Memorial Park and is designed to display a journey beginning with sorrow and grief, but ending with hope, peace and a celebration of life.The
garden consists of pieces from the World Trade Center, twin lighted fountains, a glass wall of remembrance and special recognition for the Bucks County residents who died in the attacks. On the 25th anniversary, there's to be a morning ceremony beginning at 8:30 a.m. and an evening ceremony beginning at 5:30 p.m.
Hartsville Fire Co. Flag Ceremony — 1195 York Road, Warminster, PA 18974
To honor the first responders who died on Sept. 11, 2001, 403 American flags are planted in front of the firehouse. At 7 p.m., a memorial service is to be held where a reading of the firefighters and police officers who lost their lives will take place. Members of the public are invited to attend.
Tullytown 9/11 Memorial — 100 Bordentown Road, Tullytown, PA, 19007
This memorial is located at the Tullytown Fire Co. Station 33, which features a piece from the south tower of the World Trade Center. The ceremony is open to the public and is to begin at 6:30 p.m. It's to consist of live music and keynote speaker Amy Austin, who's to discuss how the event shaped her into becoming a nurse manager.
Bucks County Global War on Terrorism Memorial — 55 E. Court St., Doylestown, PA, 18901
Unlike the other memorials mentioned, the Global War on Terrorism Memorial was built to honor Bucks County soldiers who enlisted after Sept. 11, 2001 and died. The memorial has four aluminum globe-shaped quadrants to represent the locations where the war on terrorism was fought.
Palisades Regional Fire Rescue Remembrance — intersection of Route 412 and 611, Ottsville, PA, 18942
At 6:30 p.m., members of the Palisades Regional Fire Rescue are to host their 9/11 memorial ceremony, which is to include the lowering of the flag, a moment of silence and a closing ceremony. Members of the public are invited to attend.
Durham Township 9/11 Memorial — located near 215 Old Furnace Road, Durham, PA 18039
When traveling south on Old Furnace Road, the memorial is on the right near the post office. The memorial consists of a piece of steel from the World Trade Center and was dedicated Oct. 9, 2001.
Patriots Day Ceremony — 301 W. Mill St., Quakertown, PA 18951
At the Unifest Performance Center in Quakertown, the Patriots Day Ceremony is to host a number of demonstrations and activities, including a medevac landing, vehicle displays and personal accounts from the terrorist attacks. At 11 a.m, an official ceremony is to be held. Members of the public are invited to attend.
Renew, Resolve, Remember Memorial- 100 N Main St, Doylestown, PA 18901
On the grounds of the Justice Center, a 20-foot-tall beam from the World Trade Center with the phrase “Renew, Resolve, Remember” is carved next to it.
