Work continues to bring online a pipeline in Corpus Christi planned to deliver reclaimed water for industrial use — among the approaches underway to reduce the amount of drinkable water used for operations of facilities, such as refineries.
The system under development, once fully built out, is proposed to have the capacity to convey as much as 16 million gallons of reclaimed water per day to industrial customers, the highest consumers of water in the region.
Construction of a pipeline — reaching from the Oso Water Reclamation Plant to the Greenwood Water Reclamation Plant — is expected to be a key arm of the project, this portion to route reclaimed water to Valero, according to an Oct. 9 news release.

The work will mean the partial closure of about a quarter-mile stretch of Thames Drive on the city’s Southside, between Rhine Drive and Williams Drive, beginning on Oct. 12 and continuing through Dec. 1, the news release shows.
Two-way traffic will still be available, according to the news release.
