What to know for 2026
Moody will be breaking in some new faces in the backfield after losing its most productive skill position players and head coach Mike Cantu. The Slot-T offense will be by committee early in the season while the Trojans find the right puzzle pieces. Multiple three-year starters up front will help as the backfield is decided. Rodriguez is back after tallying 55 tackles and one sack and Martinez returns after an injury-shortened season.
The Trojans shift to Class 4A Division I this season and will be looking to reach the postseason for the first time since 2004.

"We are trying to be patient right now. We aren't ready to name anybody (for backfield positions). We have a stable of them and at the end of the day we are going to use the first four weeks to find that mesh and make adjustments. Today you may be a tailback, tomorrow a halfback. We are just going to try to put the best group out there. We are excited about the situation we are in (in Class 4A). I think everybody feels comfortable in the district and it is a bonus for everybody. We think we can match up with some of the other things and we're just trying to be one of the top four."
Moody's Juan Rodriguez on the season
"I'm excited. We've been working all summer. We've put in the work in and we're ready to ball out and have fun. We may be undersized at spots, (but) we have a lot of good chemistry together and we are able to come together as a team and work."
