Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton brought his U.S. Senate election campaign to Corpus Christi with his statewide "Come and Take It" bus tour on Oct. 21.
Paxton recently visited the Coastal Bend in September.
About 150 people gathered to hear Paxton and other local officials and candidates speak about the importance of voting, financial strain on Texan families and online safety for children.
Paxton's visit came a day after Texas Gov. Greg Abbott and Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick, who are both seeking reelection, held separate campaign events in Corpus Christi.
Paxton's opponent in the Senate race is Democrat James Talarico.
In his remarks, Paxton focused on his "Protecting
the Texas Promise" plan, which centers on easing financial stress by addressing the high costs of groceries, gas and electricity.
"I'm not exaggerating when I say, 'If we lose Texas, we lose America,'" Paxton said at the end of his 17-minute speech. "That's what we're fighting for. This is our time — our moment to draw that line in the sand that generations of patriots drew before us."
