Sara Morgan, the director of the Art Museum of South Texas, announced her retirement from the institution Oct. 7.
Details regarding the museum's leadership transition will be announced at a later date, according to a news release from the museum.
Morgan started as a volunteer when she was a teenager before becoming the assistant director in 2013. In 2019, she was named director.
During her leadership, she has expanded exhibitions, educational programming, community partnerships and opportunities for visitors to engage with the arts.

“Serving as Director of the Art Museum of South Texas has been one of the greatest privileges of my career," Morgan said in a release.
"I am deeply grateful to our trustees, staff, donors, members, volunteers, and community partners whose passion and support have strengthened the Museum and expanded its impact throughout South Texas. I leave with immense pride in what we have accomplished together and great confidence in the Museum’s future."
