A man who had been accused of stabbing a woman in the 4600 block of Yorktown Boulevard on Aug. 21 died after first responders took him to a hospital.
At 2:24 p.m., Corpus Christi Police Department officers were dispatched to the area in response to a stabbing call and found a man detained by residents, according to an online post by the department.
The residents told officers the male was being detained because he had stabbed a woman. The man was detained by officers and placed into a unit.
According to the post, officers saw the man was "in distress" and called for assistance from the Corpus Christi Fire Department.
The man and the woman were transported to local
hospitals for medical treatment. The man was later pronounced dead.
Police did not name the man.
Asked by the Caller-Times for more details about what led to the suspect’s death and about the condition of the woman, Lt. Eryca Gonzalez said in an email Aug. 22 that no more information could be released.
The investigation is ongoing, the post said.
