One of Corpus Christi’s most popular attractions will be closed for roughly a week after a vehicle crash damaged key elements to its operation.
In a news release issued Oct. 2, city officials wrote that the Watergarden fountain would undergo repairs from Oct. 4 through Oct. 10, after a Sept. 19 incident in which “a vehicle entered the Watergarden area, drove through the basin, and became stuck.”
The email states that the event, clocked at 2 a.m., was investigated by the Corpus Christi Police Department and that city officials intend to “file a claim against the driver responsible for the accident, seeking to recover all expenses related to the repair process and the cost of water replenishment.”
Science and History keep momentum

Damage includes light fixtures, concrete and nozzles, according to the release.
The large-scale fountain feature will require refilling after repair work has been concluded, it adds, and “effluent water cannot be used to meet the required 43,000 gallons.”
