A Corpus Christi police officer shot a 44-year-old man who had pulled a gun on officers after being reported for a disturbance on the Westside on Sept. 5, the Corpus Christi Police Department said.
Officers were dispatched to the 300 block of Parr Street at 7:21 p.m. after a woman reported that a man had shot at her dog and threatened her with a weapon, the department said in an online post.
Officers found the man near the 300 block of South Port Avenue and attempted to make contact with him, but he eluded the officers on his bicycle, the post said.
When more officers arrived in the area, the man stopped and produced a handgun.
One officer fired at the man, striking him at least once, the post said. The officers immediately gave him first aid until
medics arrived.
The man was taken to a hospital and was in critical condition as of Sept. 5, Assistant Police Chief Todd Green said in a news briefing.
Police did not identify the man or the officer who shot him.
An investigation is active and ongoing.
