The school property tax rate for Corpus Christi ISD residents will not change this year, but the median tax bill for homeowners is estimated to increase.
The Corpus Christi Independent School District Board
of Trustees officially set the tax rate on Aug. 24, with no change since the school board adopted the 2026-27 budget in June.
The total tax rate will be $0.9583 per $100 of assessed property value. This is the same tax rate the school district has had since 2024-25.
In 2025-26, the median-valued homestead in the district was valued at $225,767, with an estimated tax bill of $822 assuming a $140,000 homestead exemption.
In 2026-27, the district's median-valued homestead has increased to $229,807, according to the latest estimates. Assuming a $140,000 homestead exemption, this taxpayer would pay an estimated $861.
The 2026-27 general fund budget includes a deficit of more than $2.7 million, which is smaller than the previous year's deficit.
