Police are investigating the Sept. 30 death of a contractor at the Cheniere Energy Corpus Christi Liquefaction Facility in Gregory, the company said.
Cheniere spokesperson Bernardo Fallas told the Caller-Times that the contractor's death was not a work-related incident.
"Corpus Christi Liquefaction (CCL) can confirm that it is fully cooperating with local law enforcement authorities in an investigation into an incident this morning involving a contractor's death," Fallas said in an email. "The incident is unrelated to facility operations, and all other personnel are safe.
"We extend our deepest sympathies to the individual's family and loved ones during this difficult time."
The Port of Corpus Christi Police Department, which is investigating the
death, declined to comment.
The contractor's identity and details surrounding the incident had not been released as of Sept. 30.
