The third annual Lipan Apache Tribe of Texas Veterans Powwow will be free and open to the public on Sept. 19.
The powwow will honor all veterans, both Native and non-Native, said Anthony Falcon, the Corpus Christi liaison for the Lipan Apache Tribe of Texas.
"After an over 20-year absence, the Veterans Powwow brought back the beat of the drum to Corpus Christi in 2024 to celebrate all Veterans who have served and celebrate Native American culture," Falcon said in an email.
Doors open at 10 a.m. at the Hilliard Center. The powwow will last until 10 p.m.
"The gathering will bring together Native people from different tribes to dance in competitions comprising ... different dance styles in men and women's categories," Falcon wrote.
The event will also
feature an American Indian Market, a veteran support group and food vendors.
The event grew between 2024 and 2025, and is expected to draw more than 5,000 people this year, Falcon said.
